Default Election day.

You guys get to rant about politics. Now it's my turn.

It's election day in Scotland. This is the closest we've been to the SNP (Scottish Nationalist Party) being elected. They have the primary objective of making Scotland independent from England.

The English are desperately trying to prevent this by scaremongering that Scotland is heavily subsidised by England. If that's the case wouldn't they just want to dump us?

It's a very important night tonight... I might even have a wee drink.

Default SNP pips Labour in Holyrood vote

The Scottish National Party has broken Labour's eight-year dominance of the Scottish Parliament.

The SNP has emerged from the election with 47 seats, one more than its rival. The Tories ended up with 17, the Lib Dems with 16 and the Greens two.

A minimum of 65 MSPs will be needed to form a majority administration.

From BBC News

Is this a good thing, Clive?? Does this mean the Stewarts will be the Royal Family once again? Is any of Bonnie Prince Charlie’s kin still around? Is this revenge for Culloden Moor????

Oh Flower of Scotland!!

O Flower of Scotland
When will we see your like again
That fought and died for
Your wee bit hill and glen
And stood against him
Proud Edward's army
And sent him homeward
Tae think again

The hills are bare now
And autumn leaves lie thick and still
O'er land that is lost now
Which those so dearly held
And stood against him
Proud Edward's army
And sent him homeward
Tae think again

Those days are passed now
And in the past they must remain
But we can still rise now
And be the nation again
That stood against him
Proud Edward's army
And sent him homeward
Tae think again

It's not all gone very well. The whole aura of defective vote counting and the sheer number of "spoiled" voting papers is causing a dragged out mess. A bit like the "bush" election.

Not really sure what's happening at the moment. For some reason they made the simple task of placing a vote much more complicated than it should have been.

I'll check the papers tomorrow to see if they've got any new revelations.

Tramp you seem to be pretty well informed, however we have to look further back than 1745 as unfortunately Culloden and Bonnie Price Charlie was'nt so much a Nationalist battle as a religious one. It was (The Stewarts) fighting to return the BRITISH throne to Catholic power. We have to go back to Mel Gibsons' (sorry Will Wallaces') days to see a fight for SCOTTISH independence. But Hey maybe we're getting there at last!
