    Post Cooperatives vary

Even within the same State some Cooperatives are Union and some are Non- Union. Most Cooperatives are relatively small and tend to keep the same employees for years. So a lot of them are not easy to get on with because the turnover is so low. If you see a Cooperative with a high turnover there is a problem, they have an as***** for a boss, they don't pay close to the local wage, or some other very specific issue. The exception that is easy to get on with is a Cooperative that is in the middle of a growth spurt. One Coop I worked for went from 27,000 meters to 73,000 meters in thirteen years. They hired frequently.

The CO-OPs around here are like thrasher already mentioned. Smaller with low turnover/hire rate. Some have the buddy system well in place that make getting a foot in the door difficult as well. Still doesn't hurt to stop in and let them know you're interested though.
