Smart Idea?

Hey guys would I be smart to leave a municipality for IBEW? I'm a 3rd year ape now and I know I would have to test to be placed at a step in the ALBAT program. I am married and have a kid and work five min from home but I want more distribution construction. Also do you have to work tower jobs? I only ask because I don't have interest in the high line jobs. Can you request distribution jobs?

You would be wise to ask yourself 1 question....how secure is your job now....look at the history or ask the older guys about lay-offs/ect....If your being paid well,why leave?Look at all the pros and cons before you leave....good luck.

Unless things have changed in the last few years, Any IBEW apprenticeship would require you do Transmission work before becoming a Journeyman.

yeah theres plenty of stuff to lurn before you can be a journeyman enything all youll need is a size 1 harthatand an xxl shirt
