120/120/0 + load readings

If you test at the pedistal or Transformer on this run you can have 120/120/240 but you know you have 120/120/0 at the meter or entrance. At the source test the amp draw one leg will have load (total load) and the other will have a zero (very low) reading. Then at the entrance you can do the same thing and you will find the good leg (it will have load) and the other will be zero. You could disconnect the no load leg and then test the lead and find the 120 is gone. If you test across the entrance terminals you will get a 120/120/0 Now you know the 240 volt equipment was backfeeding the false 120volt reading you originally had. Now if the customer is not in big need of the 240 (for a well or sump or electric heat) you could see if they can live till the next day on 120. You can open the water heater circuit and A/C circuit, install a temp jumper in the entrance and they would have lights and refer. . . if the load is not too high for a jumper. It's a judgement call and maybe your outfit would not allow. . .just a sugestion.

ummmmmmm Our utility wouldnt allow that because the meter wont register unless it has 240 to it.And Bleve me they aint givin away nuthin. Aslo could be a trap for the next guy unless its very obvious where that Jumper was.We wouldda used a service saver until permenant repairs couldda been made.

We would only do this with permission from Dispatch and we had a tag to install to inform the next guy. This would only go till the next day shift. . .an OT avoider.
Your right Poot but we had a pretty good system to keep everyone informed. We also run temp services and use the EZ restore unit also . This was just another quick fix for a real short term.
Our usage records for all the customers can be used to estimate a bill, like we did for meters we couldn't always read because they were locked inside or a doggie was chained to them etc.
