If you want to get into line work, the utility I worked for liked people with tech school training. Sign up for an electrical distribution worker course. Second you need to have a clean drivers record, no drug or alcohol issues either. With this recent election, not sure how hiring is going to an out, so good luck.
Daniel, the best advice I can give you is to check out your local tech school and enroll in an electrical distribution course. You may not have a school in your area so be flexible and find one. You might want to get on a list now as these courses are usually booked for a year or two in advanced.
