Nope you have to pay it back.If you wanted to work for a utility you should have went through there program.you signed the contract so pay up I don't blame the apprenticship for making guys pay it back Its funny how guys top out and go to power companys and complain about paying it back think about it the utility didn't give you a second look before you were trained but now you are a lineman they will hire you???

That is a fight you are not gonna win. Not only do you have to pay it back but when you were still a app it was building interest. It is more money than you think. You should have stayed "outside" and put the things you learned to good use. They showed interest in you now you should show interest in making outside construction a better place to work instead of running to a utility. Good luck.

Pay it back, they invested in you, be a man and make good on it. BTW, if it goes to **** at the utility, which it very well might, where ya gonna go if you dont man up and do right.

Just pay the money, and be grateful for the opportunity and training received. Besides its not even that much money.
