Swamp, did you ever stop and think that maybe many here already know what Americanism is.....I read it, and listened to the guy, there was nothing said there that I didnt already know........

or maybe the readers just dont wanna be preached at.....because many of us dont agree with you doesnt mean we are unAmerican.:rolleyes: we just dont fit your narrow parameters of what a "good" American should be......so......we need to be taught?

One only needs to turn on the world news, or read our history...... and we will never have a thought of taking this country for granted.

The "NEW" thing is Globialization. "We are the World" ****. I know "Americanism" is dyin. And even though you and I dissagree politically....we're "Old School" girl.

We DO know about "Americanism". It ain't bein taught in the "Politically correct" America no more. And....only "older" Americans, even though we are politically opposite...at least understand what we ARE....or "were". But we'll be dyin out soon.
As the "American Way", of hard work, saving, morals and austerity is dying out to the Socialistic....The Govt will take care of me mentality...

It will take awhile before we are as bad as Greece...but we're FAST headin that way. And with barry at in the drivers seat, and what he is doing to Our country...You and I will see a further decline in America....before we die because of what this SOB and the democrats have done.:(

It's just about at the Point of No Return, with the Govt takeover of Americas healthcare, 1/6th of americas economy.... that was rammed up americas ass by this administration...under "Reconcillation" AGAINST the will of the majority of Americans.

So yeah.

Kids coming out of schools today dont care about ANYTHING, it is not just Americanism, and it did not happen when Pres. Obama was elected, nor did the decline of this country begin with his election. It has been in a downhill slide for many years now. You dont seem to get the fact that this country was in a "world of $hit" when he took office. It took the election of a younger black man to wake this country up. Whether it be based in racism, true patriotism, party belief, disgust with politics overall, fear, hatred, closemindedness, openmindedness, poverty, stereotyping, etc etc etc, he brought the American people back to the political table. The apathy before the last presidential election was rampant, and in my opinion, disgusting. So if nothing else one must concede that he will go down in history for his role in getting American's head back in the political game.

It is up to us as individuals, as parents, grandparents, great grandparents to pass on the mentality that you must work for what you get in life, no one is going to hand it to you, nor should they. We are political opposites, and I will guarantee you this, my children did not grow up with the mentality that anyone other than themselves will take care of them. They were taught respect, honesty, patriotism, humility, empathy, self sufficiency, pride, activism, loyalty, history and its importance, the importance of family, the importance of hard work, etc etc etc, and none of it was taught to them by any other person or institution other than me. That is who should teach them the things that should be carried to the next generation, no one else. We are not just here to feed, clothe, and love them, we are here to "TEACH" them values and morals.

But you just sit there and keep blaming all this "%hit" on Pres. Obama, you seem to really believe that this man has destroyed this country in a couple of years, and that is just ridiculous..........There are a lot of reasons that this country is in the shape it is in, there is enough blame to fill the "oil drenched gulf", and to blame it on one man in the office of the president is just not going to fly in my book. Its crazy and just not true, and it shows a very single minded jaded vision on your part. Open you eyes, really open them, and look at what has really taken place here, put your hatred of Barack Obama on the back burner while you are looking, and you will see.....it didnt start there and will not end there either.

Ok Swamp, first of all.....I think you misread the publics reaction to the overhaul of health care. If I were to make a guess....I would guess that a huge majority of American citizens felt that healthcare needed reforming. I would also guess that many felt that there was a need for regulation of the industry.......That is not what happened........of course that would have pissed off the insurance companies, pharmaceutical companies, physicians, hospitals, lawyers etc.......and all the republicans that still would have cried "government is too big." Dont you dare interfere with capitalism, even though it is beating the common man into the ground. Screw the common man, viva capitalism. I dont know if this is the final product of health care reform, I kind of doubt it.......and actually hope that it isnt. We will see.

As for the video......I watched it several times..........That kind of behavior is unacceptable from anyone, dem or rep......but I cant get past the fact that the person with the microphones face was blurred out, and that they only identified themselves as students working on a project. If I were in that situation I would identify myself by name and university affiliation, and specify what project I was working on. Kinda like having to show your greencard if you are a legal immigrant, and the authorities ask for it, what do ya got to hide if you're on the up and up.

Actually that is how one democrat feels about an unidentified person coming up to him and shoving a mic in his face, without asking permission or without making their intent known, not all democrats. Just one. You tend to lump people all together for one reason or another, and that is kinda goofy.

You're a part of this industry and trade wheather you like it or not. Now Heel Winch ain't a bad guy. I've traded a few PM's with him. Everybody has issues you know and he's probably got some.

Being a meterman/woman is a **** good job and takes some brains. Finesse is not natural for linemen. If you're in any form of this trade then you know a little of what everybody does. It's not a club. Not exclusive. Just because a person doesn't agree with me politically doesn't matter to me.

Plenty of the people on this board don't agree with me politically but I can still exchange ideas with them because I can tell they usually know what they're talking about.

I used to work where all classifications belonged to the union. A fellow union member was a meter reader. My foreman used to dis-respect that man so much it was just stupid. When people forget that we're all in this together it just ruins the ideals of union.

I used to work with a guy who was a die hard Republican and as far right religiously as you could imagine. I got along with him, I liked him, and he was good in the trade and enjoyable to work with. We just didn't discuss politics. Maybe exchanged a few jabs now and then but didn't get carried away.

I enjoy EL's post. She is articulate and smarter than the average bear. She contributes a lot to this board and I bet she keeps on.

The gal who posts as Lizzie Borden, I don't recall her politics or care. She is also articulate and puts up good stuff.

Just because a person isn't what is considered a bonafide dyed in the wool lineman doesn't really mean much.

Any of you ever met Byron Dunn? Well I did. Would you be dismayed to learn he is a non-union serviceman in Longmont,Colo.? Well he was when I met him.

The main reason I rag on Swimpy is because I believe he puts up a lot of BS. Not because he's non-union. It's possible to do a lot of linework without knowing an amp from a volt. That's my take on Swimpus.

I don't think Big Clive is really what we would call a lineman. However he's smart as a whip and knows a hellofa lot more about electricity than about 90% of the people who post here.

There's other people who visit this board who are wantabees. Let's not give them an impression of stupidity. Some of them will make good hands someday.

Remember Hemingray? Hell he was a HS sophomore when he started posting. Looks to me like he's gonna make a crackerjack hand.
