Has anybody fooled with this new ceramic core transmission wire. The municipal I work for is fixin to pull in some and I was curious about it. Has anybody put some back up after a storm, what was it like splicing

That the stuff that has some kind of fiber optic in it? Tranny guy was telling me about it where it can't be sleeved, has to be dead ended.

we deadended the wire this mornin. it pulled fine and uses normal compression deadends. the 3M rep said it will run at higher temps and cools better. dang sure breaks easy though

Heres a link that shows a cross section of the wire and info on it.. As far as the splicing goes.. Well I aint messed with it yet..

Wonder what the cost is compared to typical ACSR conductor? And sizes.......the picture looks like it might be maybe 556, but just guessing.........interesting stuff......
