Burned PECO Worker Gets 'Advocate' Award From Law Firm

A PECO worker, seriously burned in an electrical accident 20 years ago, has won an award from a Philadelphia law firm, which benefits people two ways.

The first is why Dennis Gleason won the inaugural Anapol Schwartz Advocate Award -- his more than a decade of work warning people of the dangers of electrical burns. He was badly hurt while working as a PECO lineman in 1990. So, in many ways he is exhibit A.:

"When I do it, I actually bring the clothes that I was wearing that day, that show the burns, show the pictures of me in the burn center and then literally show them the burn injuries I have sustained."

The award's $5,000 will do more good says Anapol Schwartz managing partner Joel Feldman.:

"Crozer Chester purchased a specially equipped crib so that they'll be able to treat pediatric burn patients."

Next year the award is likely to be given to someone dealing with a different sort of hurt, perhaps spinal or brain injury.
