I've got to purchase a buckingham bucksqueeze and was wondering if anyone knows what updates were added to the new 2010 483D squeeze. Is it 200 dollars better than the old one?
Thanks

DO NOT purchase one. Is Northwest Lineman College mandating that for their prospective students?????? If so, drop out and pick another school. Look into SLTC or elsewhere. That's complete crap if they're passing the buck on to the students. When you make it into the trade the contractor or utility provides those, NLC should too.

I got a nearly brand new one yesterday for 250.00 dollars so I saved 300 plus. Yes I am going to nlc. I know it sucks to use the thing, but more and more companies require it so might as well learn to use it. I'm a cable guy now and do a little free climbing. I can't imagine climbing any of the poles here using the bucksqueeze. There's way too much **** on the poles.

Tell hell with buy one on my dime... I wont buy one ever! My local has said they are trying as best as possible to avoid having bucksqueezes implemented and so far so good. But if the day comes we gotta have em you can bet your ass the company will pay for it! They fall under OSHA as far as PPE goes which is to be provided by your employer along with gloves, sleeves, hardhats, saftey glasses, and arc suits.

If companys want to push safety that's fine but push it for the right reasons. Like the bucksqueeze forget about that how about buying 1 AED for each crew.6% are revived from CPR 85% from an AED that's something we need not a bucksqueeze what a joke???

It's not their fault. They've responded to a demand from the power companies for a safety device.
It's only when they start introducing so much safety that you realise that work HAS to be slightly dangerous to be fun. Take away the edge and it's simply not enjoyable doing the job any more.

The utility that I work for mandated the bucksqueeze for all lineman. It is a pain, no doubt. I can honestly say that climbing with it week in and week out and seeing others climb with it, I have not seen or experienced the need for it. The only time that I have seen someone cut out with one was a young apprentice just learning to climb. If you cut out with a bucksqueeze, you're still going to hurt yourself, maybe just not as bad as if you fell 50 ft down a pole.

Here's how I see it with the Bucksqueeze...it really used to piss me off. But then I realized something. I don't care anymore! Why get all worked up over nothing??? I don't write the rules, I don't own the company I work for, and I don't even write the checks I cash every Friday. The thing is a total ass ache. But the I GET PAID BY THE HOUR! WE ALL GET PAID BY THE HOUR!
So now the way I look at it, if it takes me another day to finish a pole...then oh well! I did'nt bid the job, and if these contractors want to cram the safety book down my throat, then so be it.
To me it's a game. I wear their precious little Bucksqueeze, put more cover up than God Himself has ever seen, and we take our SWEET ASS TIME changing out our poles! We've been following the Red Book right down to the last period and commas.
And when our 27 year old GF comes out ranting and wondering what's taking so long...we cram the safety book right back down his throat to the point he almost gags!
It's not worth getting mad over anymore. Just play the game and take the money!

I'm the same way. I've been a JL almost 18 years now. The first time I tried the Bucksqueeze, I wanted to bury the G-**** thing at the bottom of a pole hole!!! That thing is nothing more the anti-christ of linework!!!
But every Friday I get the last laugh when I go to the bank!
That's right Mr. Contractor! You heard me! Every Friday I WIN!!!! You created this annoying ASS ACHE by implementing the Bucksqueeze!!! You can play your games, and 'ol Book II is gonna play his!!! NICE TRY!!!
But guess what??? I'm still in the yard before quitin' time with an ice cold Bud in hand!!!!
