I'm thinking of going Independent. But, I need to read up on it. I want to be able to vote for who I want to vote for. Can you still do that and be Independent?

Why? Well, I just don't believe in what the Democrats are saying and doing. And I'm not sure I want to jump in on the Republican train either. Although if one would ask me questions, I'm afraid I might lean more to their way of thinking.

Umm.....maybe there is a survey you can fill out that would tell you which party you should belong to. Ya reckon? :D

For the record, I've been Democrat for the last 32 yrs....well, almost 32.

Have any of you been one party and then changed? Just curious.

So you are the one responsible for Barry being in office? I'm ashamed of you, LA! Better spend more time talking with Swamp, he'll get you the therapy you need!:D

Yeah,
My wife was a democrat for 20 some years. Then, she "Got it".

The thing about becoming an independant, I'm pretty sure, is that you can't vote in any of the Primarys of either the democrat or republican partys.

So, if you're content with that....it's all good. Like for example: Christ against Rubio. You can't vote to Choose who is gonna run for Mel's seat. You can only vote for or against whoever is the 1 Candidate.

When you are a registered independent, you can re-register as dem or rep. prior to the Primary( I think it is 2 weeks before the primary) and then after the primary I re-register as an independent. That doesnt make us "middle of the roaders(as you have hinted before) that makes us not affiliated to any party but more so a voter based on the individuals merit or lack there of.

Both parties are loaded with crooks so it is hard to affiliate myself with a particular club that a crook belongs to. I prefer to weed the obvious crroks out individually, look for one who at least pretends to be honest, and maybe just maybe I can find one who is ACTUALLY an HONEST MAN. Tough tough search though, these days;)

Actually, I think your "theory" is full of ****.

You want to be "Independant", yet change your party...to vote in a certain "Partys" Primary. THEN change back to bein an "Independant?

Do you even realize how hypocritically Stupid that is?

For gods sake...
At least let the REAL Partys, designate THEIR choices. Then...Make your "Independant" choice. Why don't ya just vote for your **** "Independant" Candidate?

What a load of Horse****....

Swamp, I really dont care if you think my theory is full of **** or not......it is my choice......as you have yours.......... blindly following the republican party.

A hypocrite is a person that registers and votes based on the ideals of a party whether the person he is voting for is a good man for this country or not, but because he is democrat or republican. Or a hypocrite is a person who never gets off his a$$ to vote, but one who is *****ing the loudest about all that is wrong with this country and the politicians "he didnt bother to voice in on."

Let me clarify....I am not registered to the "Independent Party". I am not a standing registered voter to any party.....ie NO PARTY AFFILIATION! I watch and research the candidates from all parties, and make the decision as to which candidate(not party) I want to vote for. The rest of the time I have no party affiliation. Sorry, does that make me unworthy to vote in your eyes? If yes, well.....deal with it

So now you are into suggesting who a person can or cannot vote for as a "non affiliated party" voter. Do you know how hypocritically stupid that is?

My My, we are particularly full of venom lately, aren’t we SR?.....

I will give you this.....I should have clarified my voter registration to you(I don’t quite know why it would matter but........) I should have used the precise term..."no party affiliation,” not independent(which I thought pointed out the fact that I am not affiliated to a party) when I didnt use the words “Independent PARTY.” The “Independent Party” is not a registered party in the state of Pennsylvania.

Yes, I agree....it is “friggin brilliant” that the law requires me to register under a party to vote in the primary. I didn’t write the law, I just follow it to exercise my right to vote. I am not a “fake” anything, just a law abiding politically concerned citizen.

While we are spewing venom Swamp, you said your wife was a registered democrat for 20 years until she “got it”....What did she get? Sick of you calling her a dumbocrat, or a friggin idiot.....Did you speak to her the way you speak to anyone who is not republican on this board?
If not.......you have my apology.....but I have to wonder.............

Back in my younger days I used to think.....”If you can’t beat em....join em,” that was before I got older and more bull headed.........................

Just like you!

Actually EL, I think it's really a pretty good Law. If your not affiliated with a Particular Party, than NO, You should not be allowed to vote in that partys selection process.
Hell, if that were the case, I being a republican, could vote in the Primarys of MY party.....then go across the street and vote in the democrat Primary, and vote for the most incompetant fool they were running.

I actually know alot of people from both Partys....Who ACTUALLY ARE a Member, that vote across party lines. Just not in the Primarys. Not to the extent of changing partys before an election....and then change back though.

So....how exactly do you go about Becoming a democrat....voting in the Primary.....then NOT being a democrat anymore?:D Do ya like....send em a letter and resign or something? Do ya have to register again in 2 or 4 years?

You know you more favor the Democrat party. I actually think you're doing your party a disservice by not Joining. BUT, If you continue to want to be "Un-affiliated".... Ya get my drift?

As for my lovely lady, during 40 years of marriage we've definately had Our "discussions"
She's as strong willed as I am, actually stronger. Ya always hear, "A marriage" is 50-50%. Well, it ain't. It's 51-49%. And she's the 51.

She became a Republican after...carter, not by anything "I" said.

She also is personally responsible for the election of Clinton. She was one of those "hopey changie" 26% that voted for Ross Perot.

Actually Swamp, some states have open, closed or semi-open primaries. Pa. has a closed primary, which means I have to drive 5 minutes over to the courthouse and declare a party, almost a painful as a root canal, but I am tough, I handle it. A much simpler solution seems to me to be the semi open primary, where if you are un-affiliated you choose a party the day of the primary and after it is over you immediately revert back to your original registered party or lack there of. You only vote ONCE. No system is perfect....there will always be those who try to "cheat the system" and rig the election........human nature. I am sure it is going on every election. There are still many open primaries in this country, maybe their votes shouldnt count, huh?

I dont feel I am doing a disservice to the Democratic party, as I am not a democrat, I would be doing a bigger disservice to myself by declaring a party based on their "way of doing business" rather than on what a particular candidate can offer this country. There are democratic ideologies that I agree with, and many I dont.......There are republican ideologies I agree with and many I dont. Hence no affiliation.....Does that make me a middle of the roader....Hell no......It says.....Persuade me.....you are the person I should back in an election...that you appear to be worthy of my vote.....as an individual.....not a dem. or rep. I know you think all of us "union pukes" are brainwashed.....but alas.....it is not true......I am still a very independent thinker.....who also happens to want to work for the good of my coworkers, thus no one tells me how or who I vote for.

As for the 51% Mrs. Swamprat.......edge that up a bit......go for 60%.......you deserve it.......cause he certainly is a **** bullhead!;)
