Anyone wearing them? How is it working out? The Boss has said for the last few months that it was coming (wearing FR jeans/pants) and it finally reached his work. The shirts haven't made it here yet, but it's on the way....sometime.
So, is anyone here wearing them? How are they working out for you?

we have to wear full fr when working on energized things, have a few pairs of carhart jeans little heavy and get hot when it is hot out, they last tho bulwark makes a nice pair that are lighter more comfortable, all fr is hot tho when its 90 degress out and you are in gloves and sleeves

Have 3 pairs of fr carhartt pants, wash them after each days use. Have had them for 7 months and seem to be holding up very well. I have the ones with utility pockets on both sides, just big enough for kleins. They area thin denim, and seem to be cool on the hotter days.

You wash them every day???? It might be worth checking the manufacturers data about how washing may affect the flame resistance of some garments. I know that here in the UK our Proban treated stuff loses it's effectiveness over time and has to be washed with specific detergents.

We wear FR jeans. Most of the guys use bulwark. I like them. They're tough and comfortable.
I wash them after every use (that's a lie--my wife does), but, as with all FR clothes--NO DRYER SHEETS OR LIQUID FABRIC SOFTENER. They leave a flammable film to reduce static cling.

Carharts are overpriced they sell for 70 a pair here and for 50 you can get some made pretty much the same I bleve the fabric is called excell or maybe thats the brand. Around here the only reason people wear em is because of the saftey rules requiring it. The fact that after a multitude of washing they lose the FR quality dont seem to bother a saftey man. I spoze if you could just buy a small triangular patch and sew it on a Pair of Wranglers you would be ok. Oh and yes Wrangler makes some FR stuff also.
I worked for 35 years in tee shirts and levis ,never had a prollem but overnight that attire became unsafe. Ittsa shame what they are doin to our trade tryin to bullet proof it

Thanks for all the responses guys.
The boss has worn Carhartts for the last 8 yrs or so. Levis was his brand before then. Over time they changed sizes on him. Yeah, I'm grinning. I didn't touch that! But, in the boss's defense, Carhartts make the odd sizes that he likes. He has worn the same size for the last 10 yrs or so, except when he first started working in Gainesville. Living away from home(before we moved), I guess. It's not my cooking! He is always saying I can't cook. :D
I've not asked him about these jeans---the maintenance on them. So, no fabric softner or dryer sheets, eh? I'm thinking to myself, "Does HE know THIS????" I always have to wash anything new before it hits his baby skin. Heh.
Poot, Carhartts aren't 70 bucks here! Good grief, the boss would have a stroke. We pay (for regular---not FR) around 25 to 30 for his. And we usually order 4 to 5 pairs at a time.
Yeah, I'd be interested to know how these FR Carhartts hold out. Oh, and they are BLACK! The Boss doesn't wear black. It's always been blue.

Given his known reaction to cleaning advice labels I'm not surprised.
I wonder what they put on these fabrics to make them easier to process during the garment manufacture. I'm guessing some kind of surface coating that makes them slide through the machines better. The boss isn't the only one who has to wash some brands of clothing before wearing them for the first time.

He sent them back, they were too baggy. Also, they were a very dark blue. I guess I'm colored blind. I haven't seen any that dark in a coon's age.
I think this is worse than being fitted at Men's Warehouse for him. :D

I'd like to know what website they are getting them from....or ordering them from, but the Boss has no idea.
1010, did you ever get an answer to working in Canada?

Try Midwest workwear, Hudson Workwear, Farwest line specialties, Workingpersons store. All have FR. Reasonable prices for FR. Carharts FR pants also come in different weights. They are, by far, more durable than any other brand.

Most of my FR stuff is from Tyndale. I like their clothing, it seems a lot softer than Carhartt or Bulwark, the price is pretty reasonable, and I can't seem to wear the stuff out! And before the comments start, yes, I do actually do a lot of work, I'm usually the first one up the pole or in the hole! A lot of the newer stuff is made in a way that makes it a much stronger material than denim, and it holds up much better. Some of the older chemically treated FR stuff wasn't worth a darn. I actually like the newer Tyndale stuff, and since it's required PPE, the employer has to pay for it. I don't mind having them buy my clothing for me!

I like the carhart much better then the tyndale. Tyndale has crooked seams, pockets in the wrong places, buttons that dont line up...they are a mess. I get my carhart through tyndale though because they are the vender our company uses. I started with just two pairs of carhart several years ago (along with the many of the tydale's that I had at that time). I have nothing but carhart now including the first two pairs. The tydales of the same era? Dead long ago!

Well, he ain't happy. They ended up with Wranglers and he has never worn those before. Evidently there are more tall linemen than there are short legged ones. Because they had to cut the 32's to make them 30's.
There aren't too many things he is fussy about. His boat and a good pair of fittin' jeans and he is pretty much a happy camper.

my company outfitted us three weeks ago, i have denim and 7.5 oz. canvas which are both light weight and fairly comfortable. i just love the fact that i am provided a uniform, saves me quite a bit of money over the years span. only problem is i'm used to wranglers so climbing in loose jeans is taking some getting used to. overall satisfied though.

Now he just received his new shirts and they are hea-vy! I know it's all about protection, but have ANY of you guys worked in FLORIDA????
I've been to CA when it's hot. That's dry hot. You're right, it's hot. But you don't know "humid hot" until you work here. And I have alot of respect for you southern guys LA, AL, GA, SC, .........man, if you all are wearing 8.7 FR shirts.....and making it in this kinda humidity??? I was gonna say "more power to ya" but that doesn't seem to be what I need to say to you guys! :D
Humidity here is like wearing a hot soaked blanket over your head, and to me, that doesn't fit for the line of work you guys are doing. If ya'll start having to wear space suits, we will all definitely be in a new age, eh? Crazy.

LA:
You have just realized why so many of us have complained about FR from the beginning. In this part of the country the joke is all the weathermen go on vacation for july and August because every day the forecast is the same "Hazy, Hot and Humid with a chance of afternoon thunderstorms."
Seriously, I will follow and enforce the FR rules BUT I do not like or agree with them. Every flash but two I have seen has been because someone screwed up thier procedures. The other two flashes were both 19.9kv CT's that blew up the first time they were energized, bad straight from the factory.
While I am not a fan of FR I do fully agree with the current OSHA ban on nylon, rayon, dacron, and polyester in any ratio. I just honestly feel that 100% cotton is the way the regulations should read even though that isn't how it turned out.

Frc is supposed to not continue burning. . .It's not armour from burning. You will still get burned but hopefully not stay on fire till someone puts you out.

Well, it hit here Thrasher. I'm not complaining about the safety of it. Heck, I want my husband well protected. I want him to have all the tools he needs to do his job. It's not that.
Do you guys ever wonder WHO is getting the money from all this?? I mean, THINK about it! Someone is making a killin' off of this!
*sighs*
Let me hush. Sometimes it just seems like we are all ducks in a pond and someone(s) holding the gun is thinking up different ways to make a good killin' off of us.
Blaaah. What do I know...
