I'm looking for any suppliers of rubber goods and gloves and sleeves besides Salisbury. I know Hastings is offering a new blanket line but they have told me they are similar to the Salisbury. What I'm really interested in is something other than the typical class IV square or split blanket. They are pretty awkward to use on smaller conductor jumpers and when covering equipment. It seems someone would get a little more creative with rubber goods designs.
Incidentally, I was talking to our test lab guru and he told me he is seeing a failure rate of about 60% on new Salisbury sleeves. The gloves are OK but high rates on sleeves. These are the new from factory issues.
Anywho if anyone knows of any other options let me know. Thanks

We are also looking at alternatives to Salisbury in the UK.

Have been sent this link:

It may be early days for Hubbell as a glove manufacturer or are they just a cloned Salisbury glove?

Most companies in the UK use 'Bell cuffs and Sleeves' so we may have to wait a bit longer.

W.P. I have seen the failure rate on the return testing paper work and have the same questions. When a glove/ sleeve bag, is hung on a hook in a side bin and hauled all over hells creation, the sleeves and gloves tend to wad up in the bottom of the bags. I wonder if glove bags/gloves/sleeves, being like this for a month or two, tends to cause failures??? When I bring it up, I am laughed out of the room. Years ago( at another utillity) when we had class 4 gloves and sleeves, we were always told to store them flat. And we also never stored any gloves with the cuff down if they were hung in a bin. If you did, every time you opened the bag your gloves were waded up in the bottom, especially the class 2's. Similar to your secondary gloves if they are put in a bag and hung up.

war pig i dont know if u have seen the little blankets they make. i am not sure who makes them. i think they are 2 feet by 2 feet come in split and solid. they work great for pitting around arm pins and pole top pins, you dont have to use the big ones, and they work awesome in the secondaries to cover up things that u cant fit a pecker snake over, they work good for covering up the heads of jumpers and for getting them into tight places u cant get a big blanketi use them all the time i have 2 hung in my bucket all the time, if you are interested in it ill find out who makes it when i go into work monday and the other thing i have used before is a cut out cover that works really good its like a rubber envelope that opens up and goes right over the cutout

Hi Warpig

Crawley is in the South of England near Gatwick Airport (London).

I believe the small blankets are Salisbury :)

On a different note, does anybody have problems because the rubber sleeves are not arm length specific? Bell Cuff vs Straight cuff. It's never been a problem for me but some of the boyz are makin noise that they want bell cuffs and various length sleeves for comfort and to accomidate winter gear.

The **** just ain't available and we're stuck with a sole source supplier on gloves and sleeves. It's a bummer all around.

Salisbury sells 2 different length sleeves, and three different shapes. Which length you get will drastically alter the fit. They aren't much better than the gloves. Oh what I wouldn't give for some Whites.

I went to a PEAK meeting this week and talk to a rep. about rubber gloves. I tried on the gloves and they felt good. Here is the link and the company is out of St. Louis.
