Finally getting back to the 4.8 delta pot etc. It's been a while since I trouble shot any delta primary, we only had a 600 volt secondary meter to use. However I have messed with quite a bit of ungrounded delta secondary. I'm interested in how you got 2.8 kv to ground on the single phase 4.8 kv delta primary. All the ungrounded delta I ever messed with gave a meaningless reading when checked phase to ground in the single phase part. Could be high or could be low, or anywhere on the meter.
Also how could you get 6 kv in the phase to phase mode when there was only 4.8 kv available?
We used to get calls ever summer on ungrounded delta irrigation banks. Some electrician would always call in and report an ungodly high reading. Upon quizzing them it would become evident that they had applied a voltmeter in a phase to ground reading that had given them some goof ball reading. Had to tell them, since they were only using the 3 phase not to worry about a phase to ground reading.
The only thing we ever did was verify that we had proper primary voltage, fuses and jumpers were good and then check the secondary with a voltmeter. It was never a puzzle to figure out.
