Heh. I showed this to the Boss and he said there was a line crew with GRU that had a set up like that for lunch. I told him his crew should get that. And his reply was, "We don't have the room."

Judging from the large steel reels and the position the guy was placed on the rod I would guess that this is a phone crew.
The kitchen says power crew though....

I did think he was yankin on that hoist pretty hard, but....
I never saw the pole he was doin it to. The way he was yankin on that hoist, it was probably single phase.
By the Rake of the Guy wire. I'd say it was Power....not cable.

Have you ever finished a new pole line, nice straight poles, wire is saged in nice and then have the cable guy come in after you have left and pulls the sh!t out of his line? Now your poles are pulled to one side and the sag in your primary is about to hit your street light circuit.

I wonder if they're so enthusiastic on the tensioning of the guy when they're not being filmed. ;)

Most likely another "performance" for the camera. "Let's all get in on the action."

We always put some tape around the stay wire ( guy wire ) before we cut it then above the stay guard we put a rope grip to stop it been flung up the top of the stay with another ropegrip on the dead end holding the end of the guy wire to it so know one gets their legs on all the loose strands. He was pretty keen on cranking up that wire couldn't have been much on the pole the way he pulling it though......

Hay my man...That's sure as shit not the First time I been Wrong.:D It did look like a "Linemans Kitchen" though.
As for THIS vid? There's so much funny shit wrong with it.... From a Powerlineman's aspect...I won't EVEN get into it. First off...aside from the "Boomer", who went "High"....the other 2 could have just used a friggin 10' ladder, and not gone to all the effort with the hooks and belt!:p
