Morning guys,

Please PM me if you are receiving spam by private messages. I'm getting complaints from some of you here about that. I'll banned the user, that's no problem. But, I need to know WHO they are, okay?

Now we have spam going to private messages and I don't know how to stop that unless I know who the username is and ban them.

It may be some automated system that is programmed to the posting characteristics of this type of forum.

Banning the rogue "posters" is probably the best way to deal with it. If I get a private message like that I'll let you know the name it came from immediately.

Was there any pattern in the nicknames of the people who got the spam? Were they perhaps the first in the members list? It might be munching it's way through the full list from the start.

I let Byron know that the spam is now coming in the front door. Just really makes me mad that they would randomly choose folks to PM to. GRRRRRR..........

Well, I only had one that personally emailed me, and then I received another the other day by email to report a thread. Byron now has it to where those are forwarded to me. Anyway, I won't say who PM'd me, but it was a nickname but I'm not sure they were at the top of the list. Pretty much at the top, but not the very top.

I don't think folks like Swamprat, HemmingrayInsulators, Chicago Hand, Canadian Lineman, Orgnizdlbr, or myself would have to worry about, but anyone using a "real name" might get it. Maybe even you Clive. :D

I don't know. Have you heard of this happening before?
