I sometimes forget that some here haven't been on the web long and might not know some of the slang phrases that are used. Some of you will know what I mean, and that is fine. If you haven't been on the net for a good bit, you could get lost in the phrases. And I get lost a good bit these days since I am not on as much, nor do I keep up with the new slang that comes out everyday.
I'll just throw out a few. Some that I have used here myself.
newbie/Noob - a new registered poster
lurker - A lurker is someone that follows the forum but doesn’t post. (there were more meanings to this one, but it is generally meant just that)
post ***** - one that posts a good bit on the site and their post count is usually large.
troll - is someone who intentionally posts controversial or contrary messages in an on-line community such as on line messageboard or group with the intention of baiting users into an argumentative response
There are many more out there. And this link can help you on some of the jargon and slang that is posted on the internet. I still don't know all the meanings and couldn't possibly keep up. But, here is a link that might help you but it's probably not considered safe for work (NWS=Not work safe). It's called Urban Dictionary. Also, there are many meanings even to the ones I have posted, but I only posted the general definitions.
On a side note, if I have offended anyone on here with my internet jargon, I apologize. My intent was meant in a teasing way. I know I can be sassy at times, but I'm not intentually cruel.
