This young man hadn't signed the ticket, he was placing it in his pocket and walking away and the Utah HP (barney fife) tasered him twice, once after he had conformed to the cop. I think the HP was trying to impess the chick. This is what our country is coming to! A police state!

I'm with Batts on this one. Bush has done more to undermine your " Freedom" than anyone in our countrys history. But while we are on the topic please feel free to explain just what those freedoms are. Can you make the decision to wear or not wear your seatbelt? Well can you smoke anywhere you want?, Dont you need to be Liscensed by the state (That knows nothing of your trade) to perform electrical work? Well surely you can not stop at a traffic light that has no oncoming traffic from any direction without the risk of a ticket? Well maybe we could all just protest but wait they arrest those people too? My Guess is we are just free enough to act and do jus exactly like the government wanted us to. We are not so free that we can make thoughtful decisions on our own. Try haulin yer pistol on a road trip and gettin pulled over. Better have a valid ":Right to carry" permit. In short I bleve the land of the free is a bill of goods that people have heard so often they actually beleive it. And I consider myself a conservative

Bush on the Constitution: 'It's just a god****ed piece of paper'
By By DOUG THOMPSON

Printer friendly page

Last month, Republican Congressional leaders filed into the Oval Office to meet with President George W. Bush and talk about renewing the controversial USA Patriot Act.

Several provisions of the act, passed in the shell shocked period immediately following the 9/11 terrorist attacks, caused enough anger that liberal groups like the American Civil Liberties Union had joined forces with prominent conservatives like Phyllis Schlafly and Bob Barr to oppose renewal.

GOP leaders told Bush that his hardcore push to renew the more onerous provisions of the act could further alienate conservatives still mad at the President from his botched attempt to nominate White House Counsel Harriet Miers to the Supreme Court.

"I don't give a god****," Bush retorted. "I'm the President and the Commander-in-Chief. Do it my way."

"Mr. President," one aide in the meeting said. "There is a valid case that the provisions in this law undermine the Constitution."

"Stop throwing the Constitution in my face," Bush screamed back. "It's just a god****ed piece of paper!"

I've talked to three people present for the meeting that day and they all confirm that the President of the United States called the Constitution "a god****ed piece of paper."

And, to the Bush Administration, the Constitution of the United States is little more than toilet paper stained from all the **** that this group of power-mad despots have dumped on the freedoms that "god****ed piece of paper" used to guarantee.

Attorney General Alberto Gonzales, while still White House counsel, wrote that the "Constitution is an outdated document."

Put aside, for a moment, political affiliation or personal beliefs. It doesn't matter if you are a Democrat, Republican or Independent. It doesn't matter if you support the invasion or Iraq or not. Despite our differences, the Constitution has stood for two centuries as the defining document of our government, the final source to determine "in the end " if something is legal or right.

Every federal official - including the President - who takes an oath of office swears to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States."

Using a tazer seems extreme here from what we can see of this video. However, the cop new he was being taped so there might be a little something we don't know about that went on in the conversation.

There are bad cops just liekthere are bad linemen, we shouldn't let the bad apples in any group of people be used as the cookie cutter example of all the rest. That goes for our political beliefs too.

By the way I believed this while Johnson was president too. Anyone that comes on this website with that hate that is obvious with some here needs professional help.

Yup, the legal system here hates it when citizens have anything to protect themselves with.

From the video, and I could care less what he said to the officer, it doesn't justify the use of force the cop used. It's a stupid speeding ticket and the fella never showed aggression (sp?) towards the officer. (or," cop," rather as they tend to hate that) I hope the loser cop get's his a$$ busted because he was wrong. Refused to sign, here's your ticket, plead not guilty and go to the court. Have a nice Day.

Well, first off the speed limit was 45 and the cop had to pull off the road to let the guy by he was goin so fast.

And Second, Guys like you, of which this guy is obviously one.... "could care less about Authority".

Evidently you feel you can say anything you want to a cop, including cussing them without reprocussions.

Look at the video again. I'm sure I see at least one "assh*le and one Fuc$ you" comin out of that kids mouth. And the expression on his face is in the VERY least "confrontational". Which is the last thing you do with a cop.

Sorry, that punk ass got just what his big mouth got him into. And I'd bet my ass the video will hold up in court in the cops favor.

I'm not real big on Authority myself. But I'm god**** smart enough to keep my big mouth shut when pulled over by a cop, and in no way aggitate him. It's the ONLY way to do bussiness with an officer.

I think you better look at that video again, and the punks expression and complete disregard for the officers orders. You don't consider That "aggressive" behavior? Well, ya better think again.

I suppose that's one of the "personal freedoms" you and stevie boy has lost under President Bush. The "right" to cuss out a police officer and completely dissregard his orders.

Who's stevie and what personal freedoms did I lose?

Freedoms Lost Under G.W. Bush
By Chuck Baldwin
2-23-5

For those who are willing to objectively analyze Bush's actions and policies, the truth is clearly seen: this President has systematically put in place laws, policies, and bureaucracies that can, are, and will continue to strip the American citizenry of the constitutional protections of their liberties.

Following are examples of freedoms which President Bush and his fellow Republicans in Congress have already expunged (as reported by the Associated Press):

FREEDOM OF ASSOCIATION: Government may monitor religious and political institutions without suspecting criminal activity to assist terror investigations.

FREEDOM OF INFORMATION: Government has closed once-public immigration hearings, has secretly detained hundreds of people without charges, and has encouraged bureaucrats to resist public records questions.

FREEDOM OF SPEECH: Government may prosecute librarians or keepers of any other records if they tell anyone that the government subpoenaed information related to a terror investigation.

RIGHT TO LEGAL REPRESENTATION: Government may monitor federal prison jailhouse conversations between attorneys and clients, and deny lawyers to Americans accused of crimes.

FREEDOM FROM UNREASONABLE SEARCHES: Government may search and seize Americans' papers and effects without probable cause to assist terror investigation.

RIGHT TO A SPEEDY AND PUBLIC TRIAL: Government may jail Americans indefinitely without a trial.

RIGHT TO LIBERTY: Americans may be jailed without being charged or being able to confront witnesses against them.

These rights have already been lost! Whether individual Americans have been personally subjected to the resultant tyranny or not doesn't change the fact that they have already lost these freedoms! This fact, alone, should be enough for any studious lover-of-liberty to be outraged.

That good citizens are compliant and unconcerned regarding G.W. Bush's propensity to trample constitutional freedoms bespeaks a great ignorance or a great apathy, or both.

I heard the cop was found justified in doing what he did and will not be subject to time off or anything. So weth'er we like it or not they can do this if the person is playing screw around with the officer like this guy was. Sorry I have to take the cops side. The guy was resisting and disrespecting the officer and getting in his face. If your smart you don't do this or you might find yourself in trouble. There is no way this guy will get anything out of this one. Meaning-$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$- big bucks. He was a little too smart for his own good.

Swamp, you're out of your MIND! I served 6 years in the Military and have absolutely no problem with authority or following orders. I just stated that I think the officer over-reacted...in my opinion. I've been pulled over plenty of times and I treat the cops with the upmost respect everytime. Again, I felt the cop over-reacted. That's all. If all it took to be tasered is to tell a cop to fook off......well, ....we've got problems.

NO...I
nsults and disrespect for Cops...signal "other possible problems". And...after THAT episode, you want that cop to turn that ******* back out on the Road?

There ain't no "BIG ASS GRIN" Shaun. NO Stop like that is a "Big ass Grin" to an officer.

Especially a cop alone with 2 people in the stoped vehicle.
That smartmouth ******* got just what his mouth got him into. AND I hope they FINED his ass when he got out of Jail!!

6 years in the Military huh? And THIS is what you learned about "Respect for Authority"? Interesting. :(

Swamp, don't take it so literally. You're right, cops don't talk like that and I didn't mean for you to take what I said as so. I'll put it differently. Cop: Here's your ticket. You refused to sign it and you can deal with it in court. Have a nice day sir. Is that better? Basically that's what I was thinking. As far as the respect thing, again, and I take that comment personal as to my respect for authority. I'll say it one more time. I have the upmost respect for authority. Yes, 6 years in the military and never once had a problem with authority. I advanced far while I served and am **** proud of my record and respect. I assume from your comment you're prior military as well?

Here's one where I think the cop should have drug the guy out of the car and locked him up, but he didn't. He did however have a nice big grin on his face after the ****head driver left. Handled it like a true professional. I don't think I would put up with that crap as an officer and he would have been tasered.

Wow since when can you not have a discussion with an officer about whether or not you did in fact do something to deserve a ticket. Unbelievable!!!! Makes me think what would that cop would have done before they had tasers. I dont think he would have pulled out his billy club that quick and cracked his head open and then arrested him for that kid did, simply disputing the infraction, not even close!!! Hopefully there is some kind of action taken against this officer. I dont know what video you watched swamp but what I saw was the kid got out trying to explain his position and within seconds had a taser pointed at him, that would make me ask WTF IS WRONG WITH YOU too!!!!! Ok SR think of it this way what a waste of taxpayers money to take speeders to jail, just pathetic!!!!

EVEN [/B]get posted on the Net???

Massey, the young driver, obtained the car video via the Freedom of Information act. He gave it to some one who put it on youtube. I had the audio of the entire clip, I can hear the entire conversation. THe clip was only 10 mintues of about 20. In the last of the video you can hear the trooper tell another responding trooper, "he (massey) took a ride on the taser" The arresting HP, 14 year veteran, then lied to the other trooper, by saying, I told him to turn around or I will tase you, turn around or I will tase you, when you listen there was no warning what so ever. Simply a warning to put your hands behind your back and ZAP! Three seconds is all that transpired between the order to turn around and being tased. Try it, 3 seconds, Barely time to turn your head. You can watch the clock to count the seconds. Plain and simple, one HP **** lied to another HP ****!

It was not a car load of gang bangers, no weapons, no drugs, not 2 am and drunk, no low rider. A young family man, his pregnant wife, and an infant. And big bad super trooper shows his stuff!

My uncle was killed in the line of duty responding to a burglury call. Turns out the guy had a gun, so you can figure out the rest. I do watch that show sometimes. What I see are cops who deal with crackheads and drunks, domestic disputes with weapons, etc. What I don't see is anyone getting anything that they didn't have coming to them. If a drunk started **** with you at work, how would you react? I've been pulled over several times in the 25 years that I've been driving. I have NEVER been tasered, stunned, cuffed, punched, or poked at. Occasionally I caught a bit of attitude, but nothing that can't be contributed to a guy having a bad day. If you keep getting hassled by the police, what I'd suggest you do is look into a mirror. Is an ******* staring back at you? Be involved in a 100 mile high speed pursuit, then jump out of the car and start swinging. What do you think they're going to do to you? Don't f*** with the police, and they won't f*** with you. Period.
p.s.- You should have a little respect for cops. You might need one someday.

All you fine linemen on here read the last post real good. This is what the guy that puts his life on the line has to deal with. Many people have a chip on there shoulders cause they don't want to submit to the authority represented by the police officer. The officer out on the beat knows this attitude is out there and a jerk may try to escalate a confrontation. Put yourself in his shoes confronting a bad attitude that could get violent any second. They got families just like we do and want to come home safe. Resisting a officer when he tells you something will be met with some kind of force. Now a days a tazer may be used instead of a billy club or worse. He has the right to meet resistance with the minamum force he deems necessary for his protection and the protection of the public. I still think the officer did the right thing and will be found justified. I would remind you of the collage student that was disrupting Kerry's speach DON'T TAZER ME BRO remember? He got the same treatment and the officers were found justified. He said the same thing I didn't do anything don't tazer me bro! He got tazered for resisting. The police were more patient with him and tried to get him to quit resisting but there were three of them there so i'm shure the wern't worried as much for there safety. The dude got the video on utube hoping for a big law suit and lots of money from the jurisdiction. I think he won't get a cent cause thats what he deserves. The next time a officer tells him to turn around it will be less than three seconds!

Well, I have never heard any stories about him being a prick. He coached baseball and volunteered around Christmas playing Santa and handing out toys to kids and stuff like that. I was 11 when he died, and all I know was that I was crazy about him, as were my cousins. He was probably everyones favorite uncle. Was he being a hero? I don't know. He was shot on a burglary call. The guy was hiding in the house and he and his partner were trying to fish him out. For all I know, the person who called was a smart-ass like you, quivering in the corner with boxers full of **** and piss. Let me know how your tazering goes. B-Dog,
These fine fellows go in cycles. When I first joined, it was vicious. I really felt like they hated each other. Then, for a while, they cooled off towards each other. I think that was due to Lost Art playing referee a bit. Now, it's getting hot again. In one corner you have Battman, who is passionate about his beliefs. VERY passionate. Then there's Swamp, while a bit more laid back than Batts, will mix it up on occasion. Either way, they are both decent guys who agree to disagree. I don't consider myself a hostile person, but even I get going with people on occasion. It all makes for fascinating reading, so sit back and enjoy.

You really know how to stir it brother. The facts are the facts. We have and will lose our rights. It's common throughout history. Not just ours either. When enough people are killed by Tazers (read a child ,old lady, or maybe an illegal immigrant child) then the grinding legislation will begin to outlaw them. They were supposed to be a non-lethal form of defense but the world is full of idiots. Just look at the one running this country. Since, arguably, JFK or perhaps Eisenhower we have seen a gradual degradation of the caliber of individual that can hold the position of the head of this great nation. It simply proves what a gullible and apathetic bunch we have become. If you doubt this have a conversation with a twenty year old. If you really believe that the dupe in the oval office makes any decisions on his own then you too are a big part of the problem. This hasn't mattered since even the most grizzled of us were in pampers. The reality is that big money runs most everything. The conservative religious right used to be predominately Democrats until the Republicans figured out that they vote and they are one of the few segments of our society that can be easily rallied behind a cause. Throw in a "born again" frat boy with a rich professional politician daddy cum oil baron and the story starts to make sense. With just a little research one can find that a great deal of the planet is owned by the inhabitants of the middle east. The Arabs used to be some of the smartest people on earth. Like everyone else they are greedy and they had to be stopped. Ever heard of the Ottoman Empire? We're in the middle east right now not because they pose an imminent threat but because it serves our purpose to keep that region on an uneven keel. If they ever organize against the western world we are truly ****ed! There are more of them than the Catholics, the Mormons, the Hindus ,and the Baptists combined. Our real hope lies in our resilience and our fading ability to rally together as the brothers we are. Liberal or conservative we are all Americans and need to start behaving as one nation. We must take back the control of our government from the greed mongers that have stolen it away while we were sleeping or watching TV or whatever. As for Swamprat's question as to what rights Dubya has taken. Well in my opinion blaming him would be like kicking your dog for eating ****. He just doesn't know any better. How long have you got brother?

Actually Swamprat I'm a registered Republican and I am leaning toward McCain. If you are offended by innocuous comments then you are offended. Been a Republican all my voting life. This, however, doesn't mean that I'm brain dead. I know a moron when I see one. This may come from paying attention to the details and trying to keep an open mind. If that's too liberal for you ... Oh well. In my humble opinion blind obedience to any discipline is a dangerous thing in itself. There is not a great deal of difference in most politicians just who is paying their way. You know in reflecting on your rant you might consider some yoga and herbal therapy. Who knows, you might be driving a bumper stickered Volvo before long eh.

I completely understand your position. It's one I share except for the part where you abstain from voting. My position is, if you don't vote you can't *****. Now obviously that's not true but it's a personal conviction of mine. As far as the candidates are concerned I couldn't agree with you more. No clear winners here but what to do? One can always hope. I was a Bush fan at first but I think he fizzled quickly and that the true leadership structure is becoming all too transparent. The entire process needs re-vamping but it's still the best overall in the world. Our success in just over 200 years proves that. As for me I will vote with my heart. Ron Paul has some interesting ideas and talks the talk but he really isn't a realistic choice. Romney and Giuliani; too slick; Fred Thompson...need I say more. We've already had a "B" grade actor. (although he wasn't too bad.) No it's not the military record although I certainly respect it. As for my profile. I don't usually post these things because I don't feel it's important. But for your amusement; Journeyman lineman, born 1952 son of a career military man, lived overseas a lot including Libya. Started in the trade in '78 and have worked for various employers since. Currently with an IOU in the Northwest. Have worked Union and rat. would never go rat again but times get hard. Hope to retire soon and move to the south. Been cold long enough.

Talked to a diehard Democrat the other day. And he said he's lived in Arizona and has talked to McCain and has seen what he's done for Arizona. The media has not done him any good. This diehard democrat said for the first time he voting for a republican John McCain. Said the democrats have nothing to offer.

I'm a graduate of Upper Heyford High School, Upper Heyford RAF U.K Class of 71. Some of the best years of my life. Went back and visited the base and some old friends last year. We may not have realized then but we were some fortunate kids to be able to travel that much. My old man was a Chief master with 35 years.
