I think a good idea would be to have a cooking recipe from a couple of linemen in each issue of the PLM Magazine Byron. Many have posted here that they love grilling or cooking out from all over the world.

http://www.powerlineman.com/lforum/showthread.php?t=2891&page=2

They can either send you the recipe for you to post (some like to keep their identies private) or to me and I'll send them to you. But, I know for a fact that my husband would love trying out new recipes and I'm guessing many here would like to get the inside advantage from those that cook from around the world. A cooking corner of the magazine. We can even get suggestions on what to name it from our members on the board here.

It's just one of the few things that most linemen "agree" upon; food. :D

How 'bout it guys? What do you think?

Hey, I've got alot of good recipes and some are quicker to make than going through the McDonalds drive thru. Hey, when my guys and I get done with a trouble call, we may be starving, and we don't want junk food!

The clue to my own culinary abilities is the complete lack of a cooker in my flat. Just a combined microwave and convection oven. I don;t do any of that pots 'n' pans stuff. All cooking is done with the touch of a few buttons.

For instance....

Place some pasta in a plastic bowl, drown with hot water then microwave on medium for 15 minutes. Drain water and add half a can of Campbells condensed mushroom soup and a large spoon of Campbells condensed tomato soup. Stir, microwave on full for 2 or 3 minutes and eat.

And that's a "sophisticated" recipe. :D

You're right Swampy. I used to chop up some smoked ham and mix that in too.

Delicious, and so simple even a man can "cook" it. :)

Next step is to convince the manufacturers of washing machines that men only need a single button marked "GO". And maybe one marked "STOP" for when we've run out of washing powder and foolishly added washing up liquid instead.

Then again, a REAL washing machine would know when it was full to the brim with foam and do something about it!

So what is the "whites" setting for anyway? I mean jeans, work clothing, T-shirts, sweatshirts, jackets, socks.... They all just do fine in the "coloured cottons" wash. Sometimes I'm tempted to buy one of the commercial laundry machines just because it has a single wash setting and only gives you the choice of cold, warm or hot. (warm being the preferred option.)

I make my own as I was in a country a few years ago that did not import good hot sauce. (Marie Sharps from Beliez it my favorite)

4 large carrots
3 medium onions
2 or 3 habeneros
at least one full bulb of Garlic
Teaspoon of salt (about)
1/4 to 1/2 lemon or lime if avaliable if not skip it.

Place all or part in a food procesor and pulverize it adding vinigar for liquid until smooth. Repeat with the rest of the stuff (I have a small food procesor) Mix it all in a bowls and steep for a day in the fridge mixing occasionaly.

Bottle and refrigerate. I'm not sure it needs refrigeration with the vinigar and habrenaros but I do.

Other hints ...

Use different types of vinigar. Plum, and others make it better.

I like it Hope someone tries it and lets me know.
