My computer is starting to die, the power buss is heating up... but anyhow, I went to buy a new one... They all run Vista now, the replacement for XP Windows... After buying one and banging my head against the wall for three days I took it back to Frys. When I started checking into it I found that to be Vista compatible only requires 512 meg of RAM.... With 512 RAM Vista runs, but do not try to open any other programs... Solitaire is about all it is good for. A minimum of 45 Seconds per click I can not do. I have talked to folks who have the 1 Gig of RAM that is required to be "Vista Ready"... They said it is better but not good. The only way to Run Vista in a timely manner is to spend about twelve hundred dollars on computer with enough horse power to run it. Frys currently has ten different models on the table strapped with the 512 RAM and they are not telling the customer about this problem beforehand. At Frys after fifteen days you have to ship the computer back to its maker as Frys will no longer deal with the problem. When I took the thing back, the Service Tech, and the Salesmen on the floor were all aware of the problem... Their defense is well that is the way the manufacturer shipped it... Anyhow the only way to procure a Lap Top currently is spend a lot of money or buy a blank one then get you a copy of XP to tide you over til they rectify this problem... Buyer Beware!

My father had all sorts of problems when he switched over from windows to vista. He transfered over 90 Gigabites of business data which he needs in New Guinea as there is not much IT help over there. Problem was his laptop would run it ok he just couldn't find the data and files. Its not like one or 2 files its 90gig of bookings and reservations. It was mothers day and he had his IT guy over for hours (the third time) trying to rectify the problem. His solution was he now has 2 laptops one windows one vista and keeps them both up to date...
