Right you are Labor. But I like many, never heard the Boss's version. AND, being a Springsteen Fan...feel ashamed.:o
However, here's what I remember. AND, I've also been a Huge Fan of ELO, like...forever!
"Blinded by the Light" is a song written and originally recorded by Bruce Springsteen (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bruce_Springsteen). It was originally released as the first track on his debut album, Greetings from Asbury Park N.J. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greetings_from_Asbury_Park_N.J.) and was the first single (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Single_%28music%29) from that album. It was a dud, failing to chart, although the track later gained airplay on progressive rock radio (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Progressive_rock_%28radio_format%29). It then attained its greatest success when it was covered by Manfred Mann's Earth Band (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Manfred_Mann%27s_Earth_Band), whose version reached Number 1 on Billboard's (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Billboard_magazine) Hot 100 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hot_100) in 1977 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1977_in_music). As of 2007, the Manfred Mann's Earth Band recording of "Blinded by the Light" is still Springsteen's only Number 1 single as a songwriter on the Hot 100. While it is commonly believed that the Electric Light Orchestra (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electric_Light_Orchestra) covered this song, it is merely a misconception based on mislabeling by file sharers.
You're right Swamp, Bruce's version was in no way shape or form as popular as MM's.
Coincidentally, a line district I worked in in the past is in Springsteens home town, he used to frequent a saloon in town and would stop in from time to time when he was in the area....he's a regular guy....not full of himself.

A "sticky" is when you want a thread to stay put and not move. :D Just like our "Tricks of the Trade" in the linework forum, the Jokes Thread and now the pics of the crew that posts here.
You guys will need to ask if you have a question about these things because sometimes I feel I'm doing "overkill" on the details sometimes. So, if any of you have a question you are free to PM me or post it. If I can't find the answer, I'll go searching for it!
Thanks for your question Newbie. I should have clarified that long ago.

Oh I get it (finally) we are supposed to chat here and not on the thread with all pictures - don't mind me I am not like a computer, you may need to punch the information in more than once. I do like fishing for those black bream as they are a real pain in the a$$ to get, they are so touchy and they will not take heavy line biggest one I ever got of them is just under 7 pounds which is a horse of a bream. I do have some dodgey camera phone pictures somewhere of this 7+ foot shovel-nose shark I caught. Took me an hour and a half to land and I walked it through the water (at midnight) for half an hour to revive to thing and the point I was fishing off was the site of a fatal shark attack 18 months before......

Went down to the Marina the other night to have a look at dead whale and the spoil sports shut the walk way on the break water down! Have to admit it was fairly stinky looking from the other side with all that lovely oil everywhere and there were a couple of really big bite marks as well.

Improvised all right I had this whopping great shark on and I had to let enough line out and get back far enough to my four wheel drive and open and start it turn the lights on all while hanging on the rod. Once the lights went on it took off again and took longer to get back in, when I did manage to surf it in I got it just out of the water on the sand then the hooks fell out. It took a fair bit to drag up the beach for a picture as well. I didn't have anywhere to freeze that much as I was working away and only had a tiny little freezer so I had to release it and it was completely exhausted so I am between knee and waist deep in the surf swimming this shark back and forth knowing a spear fisherman got munched by a White Pointer 18 months before just off-shore.

I use to do characters in what ever story was going on for the 6 grade reading class. The kids seemed to like the old timey miner for gold. I wore the Boss's baggy old faded overalls, a beard, old hat, big brogans, and I had tin pie plates tied and they rattled as I walked through the hallways. I would stop by a few rooms in the mornings and I would talk about their vocabulary words for the week. I used them in sentences and told the old stories. It was a riot! I got away with it (them not knowing who I was) for about a month. :D I am a firm and sometimes I take a "no nonsense" attitude, so it was hard for them to ever guess that was Mrs. D in that get up! :D Sometimes the key to success is the element of surprise. ;)
