Good luck Hemi. That should be a great job but I thought they were laying people off in that area. Let us all know what happens.

Why do you want this job?
What makes you the best person for this position?
How do you handle conflict with others?
What changes have you done in your life to get along with others?
Explain taking pride in you work?
Explain team work?

Those are good questions Ben! :D Be confident and self assured. Answer only the questions they ask, don't over do the questions.
I'm the equity cordinator for work. What I do is make sure they ask all the applicants the same questions. So, the interview committee wants to hear what you say, but they don't want to hear your life, okay? Keep it short and simple. :D
Good luck Brian!

well, just got back from the interview, think it went quite well. in fact, one of the interviewers used to be a lineman for consumers for quite some time before his position at Pfizer. i should hear back sometime next week i was told.
thanks all for the help,
Brian

Tips that I'll give my son one day, and I'll share them with you:
1)Dress neat, trim the goat(I know you have one), stand tall, walk with purpose,
2)Nice firm handshake before and after the interview,
3)Don't talk too much. Let them ask the questions, give them honest, straight forward answers. Be serious, but not afraid to smile.
4) MAKE EYE CONTACT WITH THE INTERVIEWER! Don't look around, at you feet, etc.
5)Have a typed copy of your resume/credentials available, even if you already submitted a copy,
6)Don't worry about how you're doing. If you are honest and relaxed, it will show, and the interviewer will pick up on the body language. If you bull**** them, they'll pick up on that , too.
7)NO GUM CHEWING!
8) ASK SOME QUESTIONS! Employers don't want sheep, they want thinkers. Ask them about what your responsibilities will be, will there be room for advancement, etc. If the starting wage isn't known, don't be afraid to ask what it is. I wouldn't make that the first thing I ask them, but you don't work for free, so it's a legit question.
Good luck kid. Relax, you'll do fine.

well i got the job. got a call last thursday sayin that they were offering the job to me. they must have been quite impressed with my interview. they said i might not hear back till the end of this week, and i heard back 3 days after the interview. BTW one of the interviewers told me he used to be a lineman for Consumers before he got his job at Pfizer lol, so thats kinda neat. i have the job pending successful completion of a drug test and background check which i am certain i will pass.

When I was your age, Hem, I didn’t need no help, either. Speedos were the rage then and it could be embarrassing when young lady would give some attention to me.
I now know it t’was their idea of cruel fun.
How I loved being tortured.

well, today was the official first day. it was great. i think i need a forklift for all the paperwork i had to fill out today tho. i found the working environment is very similar to that of a linecrew. lots of BSing and pranks on the new guys. My boss is a pleasant man to work for and hopefully will be the new boss thats coming in, in two weeks. time and a half on saturdays, double time on sundays and triple time on holidays. plus 401K. we are issued a blue Pfizer hardhat, and a pair of steel to boots that we keep when we are done. sounds like we'll get a chance to work pretty high up in the air too. i'm definately looking forward to it. punch in at 6:42 and punch out at 3:27, hour lunch at 11:30 and half hour break at 9am. i'm makeing $11/hr which is excellent for a highschooler. stuff such as fixing pipe valve with electronic indicators of the position (open or closed) automation control, etc.

well. first week of work went very well. it would appear as if we do just about everything. we do 24v control wireing, using what they call "barriers" which has a droping resitor and fuse to make it "intrinsically safe" because this is a chemical plant with some very explosive chemicals, it has to be intrinsically safe meaning it won't make any spark that could blow the place up. we also worked on 3 phase motors, pipe work, and soon i get to work in the 138/13.8kv sub. the other day had to go up the 300' disillery tower with the decade resitor box to "drive" the temperature loops. had 10 of those to day. today we did pressure test on the steam line. 2 days ago we did pressure test on everything else. day before yesterday we spent 3 hours searching for a pressure transmitter on the steam line that got moved. the engineers requested it be calibrated. we couldn't find it so we called the engineers. they didn't know where it was, because it was moved 2 years earlier and no one changed it on the blueprint even though everything else got changed on the print that was moved. found it yesterday when one of the pipe fitters bout banged his head on it. the new distillery tower they are building is gonna be 400' tall and we have to go up there and put in all the new instruments. we do electrical, high voltage, lower voltage (480 3-p), low voltage DC control wires, electronics, hydraulics, pneumatics, calibration and maitenace work. my second day on the job we didn't get ANYTHING done we were scheduled to do, because of all the trouble calls. in fact the first job assigned to us that should have taken 30 min (putting together a pneumatic actuator, Dirrectional control valve solonoid opperated and position indicators) took 3 days because everytime we'd start working on it we'd get called to fix something. replaced the warning light at the top of one of the 138kv towers also. they are by the airport so a lot of stuff has red warning lights.

Don't worry too much about that Brian. Once you're older and have skills people want you can recover some of the taxation by doing cash transactions and taking bungs. :p
