Retiring CEO Whitacre of A.T.& T. will get $161.6 million as he retires soon. He will get a million dollars per year for 3 years as a consultant plus benefits and some tax help. I guess he'll be on food stamps before long. Poor guy. dbrown20

I wonder If I'm too old to get adopted by him? Maybe I could claim to be the illigitimate Child of his.

dbrown20

I could say I was his illegitimate child and he would give me 3 or 4 hundred thousand to just go away.

Wait, that wouldn't work. I'm older than he is. Dammit. dbrown20

And neither you or I could do a CEO Job in a company like that.
So what they make, don't really make a rats ass to me.

It was just a really "telling" statement from mr. brown.

LMAO!

Actually, I took the time to really read all about Mr. Whitacre and I sorta liked what I read actually. Not that you know a person on the internet, but he didn't seem all "high and mighty" to me. http://www.avowners.com/forum/smileys/doh001.gif

But, you really can't judge a person until you ........well......sleep with them????? Then it might be a far stretch.....IMHO.

EDIT: Let me clarify that I do NOT want to sleep with Mr. Whitacre.

Besides it was him who chose that career path. If he'd wanted more money he could have done linework.

I believe it would be a "telling" statement from you Swampsuck. Don't include me in your analysis.
I believe it would be rather hard for someone who couldn't figure the number of amps on a frigging string of xmas tree lights. Okay Swampsuck, the green wire goes with the green wire. The black wire goes on the, "**** lookout" KABOOM!, well anyway go back to learning how to coil up that handline." dbrown20

I don't resent the rich. I just resent it when they're such hogs. If they can afford to give a person that much as a going away present, it just tells me their rates are too high. I can understand giving a person a just reward, but that is just too much. Remember the analogy I made of the Navy 4 striper commanding a carrier? Hellova lot more responsibility by the carrier Captain, and one screw up and he's history. Every now and then someone will quote the difference between Exec. pay and the workers. It's getting larger every year. Need to change it somehow.

Wye/Delta banks should always have their neutral floated when they're in the closed wye, closed delta version. Heh, heh, heh. dbrown20

Why not.:D

You started the thread. You're the one with the hard on for "the Rich".:D

BTW...have you been reading the thread on the Wye/Delta bank with the floating neutral? Heh, heh, heh....

Actually what are you referring to about the thread on the Wye/Delta bank with the floating neutral? Don't guess I follow your drift. dbrown20

 My 2 cents worth

I remember a Dr. Lynn Draper joinning Gulf States Utilities as head of the Riverbend Nuke plant we were building . He shortly there after became CEO of GSU and ran it head long, nose dive, into the ground just so that big hole in the ground would start up and save his name in the industry since it was his projectfrom the start. Then after the rest of the company was in shambles, stock at an all time low and the co.ripe for the picking he and a few others haul ass with thier " golden parachutes" worth millions each. No kiddin thats what they called em. They all had the nuts to sit in a board meeting and vote themselves a fkn "golden parachute" package, while everyone else went down in flames.Every one on this board could retire comfortably on what that cost the workers and stock holders. So yep I think its way past time for all that **** to stop. Just because ya do a good job don't mean ya get double your salary in retirement and a bonus on top of it worth 20 times that. If thats the case I'll take mine now please:D

Lynn Draper became CEO of AEP after the Gulf States fiasco. Of course he stepped out of there also with a huge package. He brokered all those dumb deals where AEP bought a lot of foreign pwr. companies, or at least controlling interest in them. Had a part of one in England, Brazil and I think some other country. When the current CEO took over he **** canned all those things. The word drifted down to us peons that he was of the opinion that it was the most screwed up mess he'd ever seen. I think Lynn got a pretty good settlement when he retired. Surprise, surprise. dbrown20

alot of companies went after the diversity overseas and got stung in the ass. I know after Entergy took over a CEO by the name of Loopberberger took sloppy seconds out of us, even ordered himself a new private jet to fly around his Kingdom while we lost better than half or brothers in a mass layoff. And the way they did it  you just don't treat a dog that way. Anyway somebody up there finally woke up and realized NOBODY had a good word to say about them and if they didn't do something quick I think the feds or state would have. They got rid of Limberger and started to turn things around and I know even though we still don't have enough lineman It is 1000% better than the way it was. Even though I dont agree with everything they do we do have (IMHO) a management in place that actually gives a **** and is trying. I will give em credit were due but .....never totally trust em again.

Other than a 'passing interest', I don't concern myself with the CEO's of the world. They got their world and I've got mine. I wouldn't trade places with any of them. I loved my job and still doing it a few months of the year.
The various comments on here are sure 'tell tale' signs as to what side of the spectrum people are on!!

Although it doesn't matter maybe in the long haul, I do care about such things. Anytime I perceive someone financially raping some company I feel like it takes away from our country. I believe that if you let such things go, then eventually it just becomes every dog for himself. I look around and I see, just as everyone else does, more and more foreign labels on the things we buy. You can't hardly avoid it. I can remember like that old Merl Haggart song, when a Ford and a Chevy really meant something. Now I see it slipping away and it makes me sad. I remember when America meant honesty and hard work and good quality of goods. It's not that way anymore. I know it's a big world and we have to be a part of it but just working somewhere and basically ripping off the company is not the way to make us leaders in the world.

I've watched some of that Ken Burns civil war documentary. The patriotism exhibited by Americans of those days and times was unbelievable. If you think it exists now like that you are full of it. All folks think about now is making as much money as they can, and as far as service to the country, let George do it.

If they don't bring back the draft and or some kind of alternate service to the country we are like snowballs headed for hell. If these fatcat CEO's continue to gorge themselves like they're currently doing then they're just adding to the problem.

No, just loving your job and ignoring the rest of the world and country may satisfy some people but I personally realize that there are things besides my little life.

I will be surprised if all these screwball politicians can put this country back like it used to be. No way. dbrown20

I guess it does tell something about what side of the spectrum we are on.But then one has to stop and look at what got em there too. Before I draw any conclusions I try real hard to get the big picture.Sometimes I do and sometimes I dont. But before i get too far off track , when you and your co workers, the guys you've worked with day in day out, for years and probably spent more time with them than your family, are effected like we were. And treated like we were treated because of the latest corp trend. Then it will, aint no might or maybe to it, IT WILL, change your whole out look on your employment. Not your chosen proffesion ,but who you work for. Unless your just a totaly numb psyco.

Gleaned this from the local paper.

UNIONS BLAST AIRLINE CEO EXIT PAY OUT

MINNEAPOLIS------Northwest Airlines said it would give outgoing chairman Gary Wilson a $2 million going away present, drawing immediate court objections from unions who endured sharp pay cuts while the airline reorganized under bankruptcy protection.
Wilson, who led a leveraged buyout of Northwest in 1989, plans to step down when it emerges from bankruptcy next month.
Northwest said in the filing late Monday that it would also give Wilson lifetime medical and dental insurance coverage, travel, and reimbursement for up to $75,000 per year to run an office.
Unions representing pilots and flight attendants objected on Tuesday, calling on U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Allan Gropper to remove Wilson's payout when he considers Northwest's reorganization plan at a hearing set to begin today.

I am acquainted with a Northwest pilot who is a Captain. He had to take a 30% paycut to keep his job and then later an additional 10% cut of his remaining salary. He should be glad for this so the CEO can get his $2 million. I always say, if you got the stroke, rip their ass off. dbrown20
