I was just looking at the “employment” part of this site. Check out “International”.

BC Hydro is seeking Power Line Technicians, the BC touchy feely politically correct term for lineman, and this is what the requirement for employment is:

A Trouble Technician is a Power Line Technician (PLT) who works the 08:00-16:00 shift and the 16:00- 24:00 shifts, including Saturdays and Sundays at straight time rates of pay. Straight time hours apply to 08:00- 16:00, otherwise a shift premium is applied.

Straight time for Saturdays and Sundays??!! Straight time for 4PM to Midnight??!!!

I thought they were union? What the f**k is going on in that province? It used to have the best conditions in North America. Did you sell everything out Little Beaver??? Even though you find your work is your play you still have to pay to eat, don’t ya??

Any qualified PLT successfully jumping through the hoops and gaining employment with BC Hydro will be working for two mangers:

Ben Dover

and

Philip MacRacken

I couldn't find Various Locations, BC on a map. Is that somewhere near that small town in northern Wisconsin called Osha????

I think you may find Various Locations, BC is near Little Beaver’s abode and in fact may be the town he lives in. Actually, I’m sure it is.

BC is a beautiful place and used to be an outstanding place to work with excellent pay and benefits. According to the recent BC Hydro advert the pay and benefits seem to have flown south for the winter. Reading many of Little Beaver’s posts kind of explains what has happened there. Now I see why he had to work 2 jobs, one for the union utility and the other scabbing in the oil patch. I see why he says, “My work is my play” because it had to be. Working all those weekends and nights at straight time left no time or money for anything else. Beats having balls and protecting the collective agreement.

I prefer to say, “I don’t live to work, I work to live”.

I have been reading some of your past posts, re-energised. I’m trying to figure out just what you’re on.

On 11-06-2006 you posted:

“Hello, First of all I am deeply sorry for your loss. My husband is a young lineman, he loves his job but it is not worth loosing his life for.”

On 11-09-2006 you posted:

“Thank you for the reply. I agree with you 100%, I too used to think the guys on the side of the road had a easy Job. I thought when the power went out that someone went and turned on the switch, seriously I had no idea how dangerous this occupation is. My husband went into this line of work cause he wanted to make enough money so that I could stay at home with our children, and he loved the outdoors.”

On 11-18-2006 you posted:

“As the wife of a young lineman, I hope your wife understands all the good and bad that come with this career. My husband and I are high school sweethearts, and Just celebrated our 10 yr wedding anniversary.”

And now:

Bc Hydro Is A Great Company To Work For If You Can Get In, I Have Been Trying For Awhile Now, But In Order To Do It I Would Have To Move My Family. What You Are Reading About Is What They Call A Shifter, He Works Shift Work , So He Works Weekends For Straight Time, if he goes after his reglular hours then he gets double time as well. But A Regular Employee Works Monday To Friday 8-4pm And Anything After That Is Double Time, Weekends Are Always Double Time. They Make **** Good Money. And B.C Hydro Is Not Out To Rip Off Employees. Im Sure Lil Beaver Will Tell You All About It As He Has Worked For Them, and Has Positive Remarks About Them. Anyways I Just Thought I Would Help You Guys Out And Let You Know What The Posting Was All About.B.C Hydro Is The Place You Want To Be If You Are A Lineman In B.C, they treat You Great, There Are To Many Scuzzy Contractors Out Here, And They Dont Pay You Double Time For Overtime Hours Worked. I Have Worked For A Few And Am Working For A Good Contractor Now That Pays Right. But Thats Only Until I Make The Move to B.C Hydro.

A little schizophrenic are we??

How would you know anything about working as a real lineman??

It seems Re-energised decided to delete all the posts. I wonder why???? Will he turn up as a different name????

Trampbag
04-25-2007, 06:24 PM
Oh Trampbag, you wonder why? your a friggin ass and no one including me has anything to say to you, so i thought i would delete all my posts since you had all the answers and knowledge about everything on hydro and the contractors in B.C. I dont need to come on with a "new name",I am not hiding from you.You just say the same **** over and over again. At the end of the day I am a respected lineman, my crew respects me and I respect them. YES I am a foreman in BC. And a **** good one at that, I dont act superior to my crew and I am there to help out the new recruits with anything they need. Your a friggin moron, you think you know it all and you know ****, as I have said many many times before. So go back to your rocker old man and leave the linework to the real lineman. :D

You also made a complete jackass out of youself.

Trampbag, You just wont stop will you? nothing better to do with your life, then come on here and insult people and there knowlege in things you know nothing about. There is nothing left to say here, so enjoy talking to yourself in this posting. Sometimes it takes the bigger man to throw his hands up and walk away, and that is me. I am done wasting my time with you. your a so called know it all piece of ****.

So when you get your chance to work for BC Hydro next month I wish I could be there to see you trip over your tongue. You'll be a big hit there with that mouth. Remember I can chech the seniority list to find out who started in May or June 2007. That's what you said last night before you deleted all your posts.

By the way, dumbass, the contractors in BC use very, very few foremen. Perhaps you’re a subbie, eh? Sub-foreman, lineman and driver, that’s the crew make up there.

Or are you giving yourself airs and graces? A little lie when the truth won't do?

Try to get at least one story straight.

Oh Trampbag To Be So Dumb ....... I Am A Foreman And I Did Not Say It Was For A Contractor...... And As For Finidng Me In The Bc Hydro Senority List Good Luck With That Pal. I Know The Differencce Between A Foreman And A Sub-foreman, And A Foreman I Am. No Lies Here I Just Like Messing With You, You Think You Know It All So Figure It Out. Maybe I Work For Hydro, maybe Altec, Who Knows. I Dont Need To Lie To You, You Know **** About What We Use In Bc For Linecrews. So Stick With What You Know, Which Is Not A Hell Of A Lot.

Read your posts, Dumb ass.
This was your first post since you made an ass of yourself in 2006.

"Bc Hydro Is A Great Company To Work For If You Can Get In, I Have Been Trying For Awhile Now, But In Order To Do It I Would Have To Move My Family."

Now you’re waffling all over the place because last night you said you were starting at BC Hydro next month and you panicked because I said I could find you in the seniority list. That’s when you deleted every post you made.

You ain’t no place, Dumb ass, except still being ridiculed with the contractors as a whiney little ***** just like you said in your first posts in 2006. You haven’t said one word about line work, not one. No wonder you’re being ridiculed where you work ‘cause you’re a DUMB ASS, Dumb ass.

And if you really were a lineman BC Hydro would pick up your sorry ass because they can’t attract anything but dumb asses. They’re desperate. They will take anyone with a temperature of 98.6 degrees and a Red Seal regardless of skill.

So, Dumb ass, the next time you post try real hard to get your story straight, just for once.

I have worked for hydro for awhile now, and the company is great, i wont hide that, as for panicking about you finding me NOT A CHANCE IN HELL, come find me *****.As for deleting my posts, they were old ones and the ones with you were just a waste of space. Not sure where you get that I am ridiculed where i work. I made a posting back when about a **** contractor i worked for, thats it. it was not a good place to work. As for hydro hiring DUMBASSE'S thats pretty big of you, we have the best lineman around BC. And NO we do not hire any one of the street so i am not sure where you get your info from. As for getting my story straight as to where i work, i was playing with you because you seemed to think you knew where i was working. So now you know, I am a BC HYDRO Employee. So look me up **** head. Trampbag what makes you think i am all scared of you???????? That i erased my posts worried you would find me???? what the hell can you do???? As for not saying anthing about linework on this forum, I have written on here a couple times thats it,the rest was my wife. I find most of the things on here that are about linework to be very accurate, except your ****..... I dont need to reply to things i disagree with like you, people all do different things in the field and who the hell am i to judge. When a brother looses his life my wife or I will send our thoughts and prayers to the families. So there you go,and stop bashing hydro around its really pissing me off.We dont come on the site to be put down and judged by people that know **** about us and the company we work for. I respect all the lineman on this site and respect there thoughts. So I am signing off here, I am so done with this ****. I know who I am and nothing you say will change that. SO reply all you want i am out. I am going to go and forget all about you and the **** you said about me and the company i work for.

So were you lying in your first post when you said you were trying to get on with BC Hydro, when you said you were getting on with BC Hydro in a month or that you are now working with BC Hydro. We know you are a liar but not sure exactly which lie you’re in, or if it’s all a lie.

And if you do actually work for BC Hydro, and that’s not all that certain, who do you report to, Ben Dover or Philip McRacken?

Hey Clive, Philip McRacken is from your part of the world, isn’t he, an immigrant to Canada probably during the Highland clearances??? Ben Dover must originate from England, probably from Dover, or at least his ancestors do.

Why did you have to edit "Fight! Fight! Fight!"? Spelling or Grammerical error????

To try and get my thoughts back on track, British Columbia is a very nice place and BC Hydro used to be a fairly good place to work. The benefits and wages there don’t seem to be anywhere near what they were 25 years ago. In fact, talking with some friends in BC they say the conditions are a pale shadow of what they once were.

That said they are not the only utility up there. Some cities have their own utilities and there is a fairly large utility in the interior and I hear their conditions, wages and benefits are quite good. The BC contractors, by and large, offer good wages and working conditions.

I was a little surprised at how far BC Hydro has fallen behind. Too bad, really.

For anyone seeking a fairly slow paced life with a good outdoor life BC is well worth looking into. The skiing is fantastic, as is the hunting, fishing, camping, water sports (including surfing and excellent SCUBA diving), and site seeing. There are glaciers, mountains aplenty, lots of wilderness, and even desert areas. Vancouver is the largest city, with a population of over 2 million, but there are other good sized and growing communities with good shopping and entertainment, including professional sports teams.

I just wanted everyone to know that BC is a quality holiday experience and a good place to live and there are good places to work.

The people in BC are friendly and intelligent.

Thankfully few are like Dumb ass.

Hey Clive,

Why did you have to edit "Fight! Fight! Fight!"? Spelling or Grammerical error????

Heh. I thought the same thing, however, Clive seems to have proper grammer.........although I'd like to hear that accent!!!! :D

BTW, this seems to be the most interesting thread going on here lately (NONAME[s] mentioned) other than the monuments over in France, that is! Heh. Sorry........you guys carry on! Just thought I'd drop by...........

 Trampbag,
This is re-energized wife , You are something else aren't you:confused: you come on here talking **** about a company you know nothing about.. My husband is a great lineman whom is respected by all who works for him. He is there for his crew. He is working out of town right now and I came on and saw your last post, This is a place for guys to go and share stories and talk about work, but you come on here and think you know it all and put guys down. All my husband was trying to tell you is that BC Hydro is a great company to work for but it is hard to get in to where you want to be, they dont put you in a desired area ,just because you want to be there, they put you in a place where no other hydro guys with senority over you want to be. It's all about senority. When you come into the company you are at the bottom with guys with 25 plus yrs ahead of you. You can bid on a area and come in 20th ,thats how it works. But its a great company to work for as you get respect from all around you, and the managers care for there guys. Not ofter you come across a know it all ******* like yourself working there.anyways I was just pissed at how you come off to people. You probably know alot you are older, but that doesnt mean you know it all........

Wow, a Dumb Ass tag team!!! Or schizophrenia, big time.

Perhaps, Mr. Dumb Ass or Mrs. Dumb Ass or ??? Dumb Ass, perhaps you can explain why BC Hydro can’t attract any quality hands, with the exception of your hubby, or you or whatever, and the long term employees are leaving like rats deserting a sinking ship. Your hubby, or you, or whatever can’t seem to get the story straight on whether you or he or ??? is applying for, waiting for hire or actually hired by BC Hydro.

Please get your story straight, Mr. Dumb Ass, or Mrs. Dumb Ass or just Dumb Ass.

It must be an interesting household you live in. I really don’t want you to clarify that, please don’t. I really don’t even want to know what color the world is where you live.

Nice vocab , you sound like a lil kid in the school playground ,having a fit. I do not work for hydro, my husband does, he has for almost 7 1/2 yrs now, and has no plan to leave anytime soon. your right alot of the older guys are leaving and trying new things or going with contractors, we know of a few guys doing that. My hubby did that too, he started with contractors then went with hydro then back to contractors and back with hydro, he learned fast that the grass is not always greener on the other side. Some may not like hydro for whatever reason and may like working for the contractor for a few bucks more. My Husband has had no bad experiences with hydro and has enjoyed his time there. As for why they cannot get new hands, its because everyone wants the desired areas on the island. And they dont give those areas to the new guys, they give them to the guys almost ready to retire or a guy with 5+yrs senority, also with hydro a apprentice can outbid a journeyman, so thats is frusterating to some guys, because the apprentices have the 3 yrs schooling as senority, they can outbid a journeyman that has been with hydro for 2 yrs. So the easy way for these guys to get what they want is to get out and work for a contractor in the area they wish to live. We had to start at the bottom and it was not fun, we had to move to a place where we knew no one with our children, it sucked but we got ahead. And are now where we wanted to be. Hydro is not for everyone, its for the guys that want a secure future, or want to move up in a big comapny to managment or other fields. For us the pro's far out weighed the cons. But thats not the case for all, and I do not speak for all in this matter, I know my husband has made a 6 figure salary since he has been with hydro, and he never got close to that when he worked with 2 well known contractors on the island, he was never guarenteed hours, and they dont like to give you overtime, unless they need you to come in to work a trouble shift. As I said before this is his experience and he does not speak for all. I wanted to clear things up, as this name calling with you is getting old , dumbass, i mean seriously we are all grown ups here and we dont need to act like that. You do not let anyone post a opionion on here, you always have a negative thought. So whatever this is the last posting i am sending, as i have better things to do then repeat myself to you.

Dear Schizophrenic Dumb Ass,

You most definitely have bats in your belfry. I fear you know nothing about what your talking about and you certainly have never, ever, ever got your story strait.

Yours truly,

Trampbag
05-20-2007, 02:57 PM
Out of morbid curiosity, Dumb Ass, let’s see if you can give a strait story.

In 2005, when a BC Hydro lineman was fatally injured on Vancouver Island, you came on and defended BC Hydro saying they were a great company. At the time you worked for a contractor and were *****ing and whingeing about how bad these contractors treated you and that you were trying to get on with BC Hydro. Then about a month ago you once again came on, again defending BC Hydros’ honor claiming you were close to getting on with BC Hydro, then changed your story claiming when I told you I could track you through the BC Hydro seniority list saying you had worked there for a while. Your alter ego, Mrs. Dumb Ass, then claims you have 7 ½ years seniority but that guys with 5 years can outbid you. I can only presume you are not really with BC Hydro but still hoping.

Like I said, I’m morbidly curious. Are you really a schizo?

I can now see why you’re picked with the contractor.
