Are JCP&L serious when they post job oppurtunities on this website and want to pay 27.32 an hour in New Jersey which is the most expensive state in the country to live? Who the **** would ever want to work for them? Besides the **** pay they are offering they also have a reputation in the state as being *******s to their employees. First Energy and JCP&L get with it, no one wants to work for your company and if you are trying to change your reputation you should maybe start with a decent pay scale.

i agree with you NJ.we lost a couple prospective new journeymen because the wages are low in comparison to other utilities. also, they said our benefits and working condition rules SUCK! the 18th floor is constantly trying to take away what little we have left so their precious stock can climb more.they always tell us that money is never an issue;until it comes to giving it to the workers.i feel for you guys in Jersey. the cost of living is truly out of hand for a blue collar trying to make it.but they[FE] dont really care about what your problems are; only about theirs.

Amen Brothers, the only people that will work for them is aps. The people who work for them want to get the h*** out of there. Most of the employees are just waiting to retire or looking for human beings to work for. The kids that are coming up are in a world of trouble with the training that they recieve. Four years and they are told they are geniuses, hard cold facts will play out when the remaining old timers leave and they are faced with inexperienced lineman. I think it's part of the grand plan to bust all thier union into bowls of jello. flashman

How true flashman. They don't give a rats ass because by the time the utility truely takes a big fookin poop, they'll be long gone with their over compensating parachutes and who'll be left? The customers with piss poor service and the linemen whom could care less because they were **** on. What a shame. This country is all about greed and unless somebody does something about it, it's just goin down the toilet. I'm buyin a generator.

The Management at FE will never get it!The only thing that makes these people happy is a fat bottom line. They are willing to risk people and let customers suffer as long as the payback for the company is good enough.I agree that the golden parachutes will be pulled and the board will jump ship as soon as it hits the fan, that being untrained workforce getting killed or nuclear generation blowing up and killing part of the country, still wont be company fault, untrained workforce is all they will say.I worked for them 2 years, oldest trucks in the company, travel extensively and local management that wanted to climb higher no matter the cost.I saw lots of good guys leave and got smart enough to follow them.
Beware future employees and take care the ones employed there now!

The problem is they have the big picture $$$$. They do not care about the employees or the customers. The bosses are just puppets. Thank you can I have another please. Shave your head and pull your pants up to your rib cage and look like Pee Wee Herman and you gotta a job!

I feel like white trash in the trucks we have to drive! Wow certainly is a great first impression. I drive real slow so I do not kill anyone as the parts fall off.

I hope they sink just like their stock is.

I worked there for 2 years.Wouldn't recommend going for anything or than frustration money. The overtime for t-man is not there. If you go on a crew, good guys, get used to doing things from 10-15 years ago.No build standards, company standards book used for door stop. You will get a chance to learn to work primary from the wood, not many people doing it anymore, but common practice there. No need for bucket liners either, they never had,so see no need for them, unless things have changed alot in 2 years.Management will give you a good ride also, pretty decent to your face, dont turn around though, you wont be able to hold water if you know what I mean.Oh yeah, anything you have learned in those 20 years wont apply, get used to that also. But other than that ,it is a decent place to work.

Good luck if you decide to go,they preach safety, practice is another thing.
PS.your benefits will suck and you will be able to hear the sound of the toilet bowl chain being pulled, each time the benefits meetings take place. They broke the contract and the union was unable to do anything about it,lost the arbitration. So the company will take full advantage everytime, they have plenty of money, the union doesn't,take it to arbitration, the company doesn't care, just something to keep the bevy of lawyers busy, while they are planning to take something else.

If you have any questions, you can private message me,I will tell you anything I have experienced.
