Who needs an Oscar when you can have a BAFTA as big as this...

I do a bit of work with a local prop making company, and they asked if I could use my van to deliver these huge BAFTA's (British Academy of Film and Television Awards) to the Academy's local office. I couldn't resist posing with them first......

lets face it. It's the closest I'll get to a BAFTA.

For those who need to know... the master was sculpted out of a large block of Styrofoam using hot wire cutters, knives and abrasive pads, then coated, a master mould made, then four replica's turned out in fibreglass. They are for dressing the main stage at the awards ceremony.

You saw a couple in an intimate pose, right?
Interestingly, research has shown that young children cannot identify the intimate couple because they do not have prior memory associated with such a scenario.
What they will see, however, is the nine dolphins in the picture! So, I guess we've already proven you're not
a young innocent child.

Now, if it's hard for you to find the dolphins within 6 seconds, your mind is SO corrupted that YOU probably need help!
OK,
here's help: Look at the space between her right arm and her head, the tail is on her neck, follow it up. Look at her left hip, follow the shaded part down, it's another one, and on his shoulder...
OH, SURE , you see them NOW !!!!!!

I got the same email a few months back and 6 year old promptly told my wife that i was looking at rude pictures on the computer.

Money?
Their dog/cat/kids?
Their truck?
Last pole on a long job?
Their front door when they've been away too long?
Their partner?

Dunno.

Good beard. But then, all beards are good.

He is out a 330kV line rolling a smoke back in the bad old days that was how they worked and the crew he was in never had a accident. I think he said they were doing line inspections at the time of the picture as for no boots and shirt he just said it was "bloody hot that day!" He's an excellent lineman, make anything from pole hardware and he's still working when I bumped into him a couple of days ago.

Here are a few pics of a river crossing pole.. with an osprey nest, this is the 3rd time in as many weeks it seems that we had to disrupt this nest.. Ms Osprey wasnt interested in any other property, so we gave her a proper 'flat to build on. This was done with knowledge from of the DNR, so there was nothing illegal about this.

We had to get to this pole by boat. Going right from the boat to the pilings. 2 of us on the pole in about 15 mph winds that day. When the dish left the boat it sails and twisted out about 30ft away from the boat and pole. TMy journeymans words were.. "WHOA!!!!" I actually fell from the transition at the pilings into the mud here so I wont soon forget this adventure.

Yeah , it was an ordeal .. we sent one apprentice up to 'hose' up everything, then we got the okay to take the nest down. If you look carefully at the pic after the nest is down you can see a little nub. It have some wires that stuck out, and its jub was to deter birds from roosting there. Well , she didnt pay that any mind. Bent half the wires and built on the joint loop of the neutral.

When I saw the dish we had to put up there I really wasnt looking forward to doing this job, but we got it done.

I agree with you though . I look forward to seeing more pics here. I try to take what I can , and get pics form the other guys that they take. But they dont really seem 'quality' enough to post. BUt I tell ya, if anyone else has some decent pics, job related or other wise. I know I for one would love to see them.

A lot of the phone camera pics are a bit grainy at times, but they do catch the desired scenario, so I wouldn't bother too much about "bad" pictures.

The technical ones are good, but just candid crew shots are quite fun as well.

Put up "SERIOUS Bird Guards'.

So....How'd that work for ya?:D

Check out the Mac's. These switches are in serious need of maintenance. let's hope after the Chicks hatch and fly away....they'll tear down the nest and rebuild this pole.

NEVER underestimate "Mother Nature"....

This is a new technique for generating "stereo" images in a picture. It's basically a GIF file that jiggles back and forth between the left and right eye image to give a perception of depth.

Somewhat. It was only for one night. Are teacher simulated a storm goin threw the best he could. Like cut lines dones, have cutouts open to simulate finding what went wrong, cut a pole in half to say a car hit it. 5 Miles A Day

Don't you think it's time we all became more physically active? Beginning 2009, a few friends & I will be riding 5 miles every day.

If any of you would like to join our Bike Club, please let me know and we can make arrangements.

I think it would be appropriate to ride somewhere between 4:00 and 7:00 pm. We can call it happy hour, and pick you up on the way, if it will make you say yes.

I have attached a photo of my bike.

This site contains some of the best & most interesting pictures I've ever seen. Note that at the conclusion, there are several other subjects that you may select additionally.
This is a large & magnificent site. Old Kodacolor is wonderful!
Plan to spend.....alot of time. These pictures are really Amazing.

At the end of this first set of pictures, be sure to Click on the link, "The pacific and Adjacent Theaters in WWII".

Awesome. Look at the faces and you can see just how blessed, or spoiled, we are to be living in this era. These were definetly the "greatest generation"

That's quite the boom on your bucket trucks Squizzy! I can't say I have ever seen that type before. Does it break over center, and extend out too?

They have a top and bottom boom with a fly jib on the end of the top boom and the top boom also has a telescopic boom inside. The closest bucket has its telescopic boom out. And yes they has a long reach I will check up with stats on them next week. The company that makes them actually sent a rep out to the crews and asked them what improvements they could do for the Mark 3's they are bringing out...

Its kinda like my 42 foot altec but with that last section at the bucket it would give me the extra reach I need sometimes.

Yeah they get to all sorts of spots, pretty sure this is the model, the bucket also swings 180 degrees on the end of the boom...

Yeah I was looking at this thread the a few days ago and there was only the picture icons with no pictures, I tried logging in and out and they wouldn't change. Also tried to log on earlier in the week and it told me my account was suspended ah well all good now.

Yeah that cable was something different. The guy who did the investigation found a heap of other stuff associated with that job that was crap as well, not sure what happened to the contractor that did it apart from having to rectify it...

Looks like the top corner of a box truck clipped that riser on the left bend. The right sharp bend was where it was bracketed to the pole before letting loose. The excess was pulled from the ground bend beneath the earth.

No one would ever intentionally leave something like that.

If it is one thing stupid contractors can do, it is see the obvious. You know, since we've been around:rolleyes:
